SHOCKING SUICIDE AT
KILNHURST. – An inquest was held at the Commercial Hotel, Kilnhurst yesterday,
before W. W. Woodhead, Esq., deputy coroner, on the body of Wm. Ardron, miner,
aged 35 years, who committed suicide on Thursday afternoon. The deceased, who
has been ill for some time, was alone in his bedroom when he committed the
deed. His wife was the first person attracted to the room, she having heard an
unusual noise. He was then lying with his throat cut, and a razor covered with
blood was found upon the floor. Dr. Blytheman, of Swinton, who happened to be
passing, was called in, but he was unable to save the man’s life, death ensuing
in the course of three-quarters of an hour. A note written in lead pencil, and
said to be in the deceased’s handwriting, was found in the room, and in this he
asks his wife’s forgiveness, and requests to be buried at Kilnhurst.- The
verdict of the jury was, “Suicide during temporary insanity”.
